MERCEDES-BENZ OF FORT MITCHELL
With the owner’s design partner, Vocon, EGC designed a new 55,000-square-foot, full service auto dealership to include the most recent technology for service, as well as provide a luxury showroom and customer experience. The project included demolition of a 223-room hotel, encompassing 6.7 acres. Site remediation included the installation of 330 geo-piers, cut and fill of 15,198 cubic yards (7,358 cubic yards imported), 11,000 tons of gravel and 15,000 yards of heavy duty asphalt.
Demolition started Feb. 18, 2013, and was completed by March 19, 2013. Final occupancy was awarded Sept. 23, 2013. Sitework and building was completed in 187 calendar days.
The building includes radiant floor heating in the showroom service areas; air-conditioning throughout, including the service area; six high-speed, exterior doors with polycarbonate panels; a 25-foot tall, 15-foot wide mesh water feature; LED fixtures; and a 15,000-cubic-foot underground storm water detention system.
