Clients and designers alike have developed an appreciation for having EGC as a member of the pre-construction team. Our role is to define processes and details that add value to the project as well as “streamline” the schedule. The benefits are exponentially valuable versus using a traditional design process.

Achieving a successful outcome on a project is made possible with a) creativity in design of the project, b) review of constructability factors at several stages of the process and c) the effective management of all tasks necessary to complete the project.

Experience and process are the key ingredients to EGC’s success. Rather than perform work linearly, where a package of information is handed from one team member to another in stages, EGC works in parallel with the client and the designer(s) to achieve faster decisions. Because our team members bring knowledge of construction, sequencing of work, and years of historical data with them, their primary task is to evaluate the purpose of each work area within a project, identifying opportunities for:

• Evaluating alternative structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing details and/or material selections
• Pro-actively identifying sequencing issues based upon a “view of the whole picture” of the project
• Reviewing the work to determine if potential sequencing issues exist which may impact an area of the project
• Identifying any existing conditions that impact the effectiveness, cost / value of the proposed work, or timing of the project
• Opportunities for expediting the work, including pre-fabrication
• Evaluating supply chain factors to identify opportunities for economies of scale or production variations that may impact aesthetics, price and/or sequencing
• An alternative approach to a design or engineering issue is possible
